Position Summary

The Tryst Trading Company Food Group is seeking Prep Cooks to join our team of amazing individuals who share a genuine passion for creating and serving excellent food and drinks, and who enjoy working in a place that promotes a culture of building meaningful connections with our guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, stock, and break down workstations on the line.
• Follow prep lists created by management.
• Gather, measure, prepare, chop, portion, and/or cook food ingredients for use in final cooking processes.
• Prepare salads, breads, salad dressings, and sauces.
• Assist with receiving supplier deliveries and alert management of any quality issues.
• Assist Line Cooks as needed or directed by management.
• Assist with washing small kitchen tools and utensils as needed.
• Alert management of any quality or safety issues.
• Ensure kitchen equipment and appliances are maintained, clean, and used properly.
• Ensure proper labeling, dating, and storage of prepared foods.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic work environment at all times.
• Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained.
• Report all food waste or spoilage to management.
• Ensure food is stored properly when not in use.
• Follow running and closing sidework lists.
• Study the menu and prepare ingredients in advance as needed.
• Perform tasks or duties as directed by management.
• Learn cooking methods and techniques used in the kitchen.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
• Proven experience as a Prep Cook.
• Knowledge of kitchen health and safety rules.
• Strong organizational skills and manual dexterity for handling knives and kitchen equipment.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
